Long Distance Paths |
| Llangollen to Bala (best of the
Berwyns) This 3-day walk
starts at the interesting town of Llangollen and traverses the Berwyns
to finish at Bala. The highlights include Wales’s tallest waterfall
(240-ft high) “Pistyll Rhaeadr” and the peaks of Cadair Bronwen, Cadair
Berwyn and Moel Sych all approaching 3,000-ft (900-m). |
| Lake Bala to Barmouth
This is a 3-day walk through spectacular mountain
scenary from Lake Bala to finish on the coast at Barmouth, it includes
the Aran ridge, Dovey Hills (north), Cader Idris, Creggen lakes and the
Mawddach estuary. It can extended to Llangollen (see above) or the
Rhinogs (part of the Cambrian Way) |

Cambrian Way
The Cambrian Way is a 260 mile walk from Cardiff,
through all the mountain areas of Wales and finishing at Conwy.
Snowdonia Part
The Snowdonia part of the Cambrian Way starts
at Lake Bala (Llanuwchllyn) and includes: the Aran ridge, Cader Idris,
The Rhinogs, Moelwyns, Snowdon, Glyders and Carneddau. This is a
challenging walk of around 9 days, covering more than 100 miles (160 km)
with a total height gain of over 30,000 ft (9,300-m) which is more than
climbing Everest from sea level! |
| Dyfi (Dovey) Valley Way
A 108-mile walk through the picturesque Dyfi
Valley. The route starts at Aberdovey and follows the Afon Dyfi on the
north side and turns at Llanuwchllyn (near Bala) to follow the Afon Dyfi
on the south side to Borth |

Hope House Way
A 539 km (335 miles) walk around Shropshire, the Marches and
mid Wales. Sales of the guide-book raise funds for Hope
House Children's Hospice. This walk passes through Bala.
The walk was researched and written by the Rotary
Club of the Wrekin, Wellington, Shropshire.

| The Dee Way
The Dee Way a long distance trail which
follows the River Dee from the mouth of the Dee estuary to its source
upstream of Lake Bala. There is the option of starting in Wales (Prestatyn)
or England (Hoylake) and continues through Chester, Llangollen, Bala and
around Lake Bala to the source. The walk is either 115 miles (from
Hoylake) or 130 miles from Prestatyn.
