We offer navigation training in Snowdonia on a daily basis or a course of several days for a group of up to eight.

Navigation Training possibilities include:

• Introduction to navigation, ideal for a family
• Refresher while on a guided walk
• Micro-navigation for bad weather
• Preparation for Mountain Leader assessment
• Use of a GPS unit

Training is provided by Ray Hind a qualified Mountain Leader, who will provide the necessary equipment, such as map, compass, GPS unit. A range of navigation theory books are available for further reading.

Training will generally consist of:

• Class room session (as short as possible!)
• Practical instruction using suitable terrain
• Practice with an opportunity for correction, if required, using suitable terrain.

Abercelyn is ideally situated in Snowdonia for navigation training, there are three local mountain ranges (Arenig, Aran, Berwyn) readily accessible and other parts of Snowdonia are a short drive away. The local mountain ranges provide un-crowded walking over a variety of terrain, ranging from farmland, moorland, forest and up-land areas with to peaks approaching 3000 ft.
